Doing the Work

At BIO-ISAC we convene the urgently needed workgroups, training, and conversations that get the work done.

Initiatives

BIO-ISAC prides itself on maintaining a community focused on action and results. Ad-hoc efforts and collaboration on horizon-piercing issues are also taking place. Have something in mind? Tell us! Email help@isac.bio.

At the frontier of biotechnology, cybersecurity is key to safe progress. This effort brings together thought leaders and stakeholders to proactively address the cybersecurity needs of an evolving industry, ensuring that innovation thrives without compromising safety or security.

Shaping the future foundation for cyberbiosecurity, this esteemed group curates and advances cutting-edge research at the intersection of cybersecurity and biotechnology. These editors ensure the publication of impactful, peer-reviewed studies at the boundaries of science and security, and heads editorial for the Cyberbiosecurity Quarterly.

Protecting future food security starts with cybersecurity. We work with farmers and industry leaders on practical approaches to fortify agricultural systems against digital threats, safeguarding crop and industry data, supply chains, and farm technologies against attacks.

This invitation-only US-focused effort is tailored to mobilizing industry leaders to build capacity and thoughtfully engage government agencies, security professionals, and industry leaders to safeguard critical bio infrastructure and ensure resilience against cyber-attacks targeting the biotech sector.

Data is the backbone of modern bio-research. This effort focuses on ensuring the accuracy, security, and confidentiality of bioscience data. Our future for data integrity protects the provenance of this resource from the moment it is generated, or in transit or use, keeping it safe throughout its lifecycle.

When a cybersecurity incident strikes, rapid, effective response is essential. Proactively identifying and addressing security flaws is crucial in preventing cyber threats. This work promotes transparent, responsible reporting of vulnerabilities (of every kind, not just software), fostering collaboration between researchers, developers, and organizations to address weaknesses before exploitation.

As biotechnology evolves, so do cyber threats. This effort tackles vulnerabilities in lab instruments and networked devices, crafting easy-to-use reference guides. We work for a future where security is achievable, understandable, and used by every industry leader - from the front-line to the investors.

We provide workforce programs tailored to the experiential learning needs of those starting, transitioning to, or investing in bio-based connected campuses. Our bio-lab and cyber-lab experiences to deliver a cross-disciplinary,  interdisciplinary knowledge base for our attendees and improve security posturing.
